There are a variety of options available to those who seek a career in Dental Hygiene, including Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's Degrees. It takes only 2 years to earn an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene. At this level of training, the hygienist provides primary preventative dental services to patients. The program entails lectures and laboratory classes, and hands on experience with treatments in a dental hygiene clinics. To work in most private dental offices, an Associate's Degree is usually all that is required. Bachelor's and Master's degrees are usually required for research or teaching positions, or clinical practice in public or school health programs.
